Consuelo has spent her nursing career focused on the care of oncology patients. As an undergraduate student at the University of Northern Colorado, she volunteered as a research assistant at the UNC Cancer Rehabilitation Institute. Providing direct patient care became her goal and she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Colorado in 2005. As a registered nurse, she has provided both inpatient and infusion care at St.Josephs and Lutheran Medical Center. Working in cancer research was also a strong interest and Consuelo has held positions as Clinical Coordinator for oncology groups in Colorado and Nevada. She has also spent time working in managed care and pharma with a focus on clinical education for oncology service lines and products. This year, she completed her Masters of Science in Nursing and became a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Consuelo serves as an active board member for the Western States Cancer Research NCORP and is president elect of the Metro Denver Oncology Nursing Society.
