Medical Oncology
Initial Consultation

The MSCI provides compassionate medical oncology services tailored to patients diagnosed with melanoma and other skin cancers. We take the time to understand your concerns and thoroughly explain all of the options available to you. During the course of your initial 90 minute consultation we will guide you through the developmental history of your cancer, evaluate areas of the skin that concern you, conduct a thorough review of medical records, discuss evidence-based treatment options, navigate immediate next steps in your care, assess hereditary risk factors for skin cancer, and counsel on environmental risk factors that may predispose to skin cancer. Our goal is to educate and empower so that patients may make informed decisions regarding their care.

We recognize that facing a cancer diagnosis can be intimidating, time-consuming, and confusing. We aim to reduce your burden by providing a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care. We incorporate a team of highly skilled medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists and other experienced healthcare professionals to consult on your cancer treatment through our Skin Cancer tumor board. Each case is thoroughly reviewed and a comprehensive treatment plan is put forth by our multidisciplinary care team. Our experts are here to help you navigate your cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Multidisciplinary Care

Anti-cancer Therapy (immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and chemotherapy)

The MSCI oversees patients before, during, and after their cancer treatment. The providers at The MSCI will determine the potential benefit of anti-cancer therapy as it relates to your specific diagnosis. If necessary, we will order and manage treatment for your cancer. The MSCI partners with Mountain Blue Cancer Center, Swedish Hospital, and Presbyterian St. Lukes Hospital to provide anti-cancer treatment in a comfortable and soothing environment.

The MSCI is a medical oncology practice. While we do not perform surgery we will provide a thorough assessment to determine the most important next steps in your care. If the next steps include surgery, we will refer you to an experienced surgeon that specializes in the treatment of skin cancer.

Genetic Risk Assessment

Genetic risk assessment is a complimentary service performed for all new patients. We will assess for hereditary risk factors that place you or your family at risk for the development of skin cancer and provide education around the utility of genetic testing. Additionally, we use personalized medicine to inform treatment decisions through genomic tumor testing when indicated.

Clinical trials are an essential component of anti-cancer care in the modern era, providing access to potentially life-saving treatment not otherwise available in standard settings. The MSCI provides clinical trials to patients in need of treatment above and beyond the standard of care. Eligibility assessments are routinely performed and you will be notified if a clinical trial is available to you. We provide you with the tools to make informed decisions, improving outcomes by providing options. The MSCI partners with Sarah Cannon Research Institute to access state-of-the-art anti-cancer therapies through clinical trials.
